It’s been a busy few months at my writing desk, but I’m pleased to share that the manuscript for my latest project, ‘Sherlock Holmes and Operation Hecate’ is almost ready for submission to MX Publishing, one of the leading homes for contemporary Holmesian fiction.
As any writer knows, almost ready can feel like both the most exciting and nerve-wracking place to be. The story has been through several rounds of revision, cups of tea, and more than a few late-night notes in the margin. But it’s finally taking the shape I hoped for when I began.
Of course, there are no guarantees in publishing. Submission is just one step in a long process, and acceptance is never assured. But I’m proud of how this book has developed and eager to see what the next stage brings.
Without giving too much away, Operation Hecate takes Holmes and Watson into darker territory — fighting a nascent facist threat in late 1930’s Britain. It’s been a fascinating challenge to balance the detective’s trademark logic with themes that test even his formidable mind.
As I prepare to send the manuscript off, I’m also reflecting on how much the act of writing itself teaches you. Not just about characters, but about patience, persistence, and the quiet confidence of letting go.
I’ll share updates here as things progress. And if you’d like a deeper look behind the scenes — including the ideas that shaped Operation Hecate and what I’ve learned from living with Holmes for so long — you can find that in my Substack where I post more detailed reflections and essays.
Thank you, as always, for reading and for being part of this journey.
