I’m pleased to share that I’ve signed a contract with MX Publishing for my second Sherlock Holmes novel, Sherlock Holmes and Operation Hecate.
Following Footsteps on the Moor, this new story takes Holmes into a very different setting — the late 1930s. It’s a period that brings with it a distinct atmosphere and a different kind of threat, far removed from the familiar world of Baker Street in the Victorian era.
One of the challenges — and pleasures — of writing Sherlockian fiction is finding the balance between homage and something that feels new. With Operation Hecate, I’ve been exploring how Holmes might operate in a world that is changing rapidly around him, where the dangers are less individual and more ideological in nature.
It’s early days yet, but I’m looking forward to developing the story further and sharing more as it progresses.
For now, it’s a matter of returning to the work — and to Holmes.
